A (former) family (or occasionally order or tribe) of bivalve molluscs, having a gaping shell and a mantle which is open only at the anterior extremity to allow extrusion of the foot, and extends posteriorly into two siphons which allow water flow to and from the mantle cavity. Also: molluscs belonging to such a family. Obsolete.Members of Inclusa, many of which bore through earth, wood, and soft rock, are now classified as belonging to numerous families, esp. Myidae, Pholadidae, and Solenidae.
