Etymology: < Latin incūriōsus careless, unconcerned, negligent, not done with care, < in- (in- prefix4) + cūriōsus careful, curious adj. and adv.; compare French incurieux . In sense 7, apparently < in- prefix4 + curious adj. and adv.

1. Without care or concern: (a) not bestowing care; careless, negligent, heedless; (b) free from care or apprehension; not anxious, untroubled; (constr. of); archaic.
