Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymons: French arrondi, arrondir.
Etymology: < French arrondi (1681 in heraldic use; now historical), specific use as adjective of past participle of arrondir to make round (13th cent. in Old French as arondir ) < a- a- prefix5 + rond round adj.
Heraldry. Now rare.
Of a bearing, charge, or device: represented (by means of shading) as having a rounded surface; rounded or curved in shape.

1725 New Dict. Heraldry 18 Arrondie, a Cross-Arrondie, or rounded, is that whose Arms are compos'd of Sections of a Circle, not opposite to each other, so as to make the Arms bulge out thicker in one Part then another.
