Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; modelled on a German lexical item. Etymons: ice n., wine n.1
Etymology: < ice n. + wine n.1, after German Eiswein Eiswein n.
A wine made from grapes that are picked while frozen on the vine, and pressed while still frozen, so that the juice is highly concentrated and very sweet; = Eiswein n. Also: a similar wine produced using an artificial freezing process such as cryoextraction.
