释义

hydrostaticadj.

/hʌɪdrəʊˈstatɪk/
Etymology: Ultimately < Greek ὑδρο- water + στατικός making to stand, balancing, weighing (see static n. and adj.); but probably proximately < Greek ὑδροστάτης a hydrostatic balance, in medieval Greek a fire-engine, which probably originated modern Latin hydrostaticus, French hydrostatique.
