Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: humour n., -ic suffix.
Etymology: < humour n. + -ic suffix. In sense 1 after French humorique ( P.-A. Piorry De la percussion médiate (1828) 31, originally in bruit humorique). N.E.D. (1899) gives the pronunciation as (hiumǫ·rik) /hjuːˈmɒrɪk/.
1. Medicine. Of a sound heard during percussion or auscultation: suggestive of the presence of both liquid and gas. Obsolete.
