Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: astro- comb. form, -cyte comb. form.
Etymology: < astro- comb. form (see astro- comb. form 2) + -cyte comb. form. In sense 2 after German Astrocyt (1895 or earlier; now Astrozyt).
Histology.
1. A star-shaped bone cell. Obsolete. rare.Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
