1926 J. H. Sandground in Amer. Jrnl. Hygiene VI. 338 In the genus Strongyloides [of nematodes] heterogony may be involved in the life-cycle, but in many instances there is only one multiplicative generation and this mode of development has been called direct or, if we may introduce a new term to express this, homogonic in contradistinction to heterogonic or indirect.
1939 Amer. Jrnl. Hygiene 30 d. 15 In those Strongyloides infections where both modes of larval development are commonly encountered, there is little constancy in the daily yields of heterogonic, i.e., indirect or free-living adult, in contrast to homogonic, or direct, progeny.
