Etymology: < Greek ὁδός way + -γραϕος (-graph comb. form), writing, writer.
1. Mathematics. A curve, invented by Sir W. R. Hamilton, of which the radius vector represents in magnitude and direction the velocity of a moving particle. Also attributive. Hence extended to curves in which the radius represents other vector quantities.
