1. Cartography. Designating a method of projection in which equal areas on the earth's surface are represented by equal areas on a map or chart; (of a map or chart) produced using such a method. Compounds 3.Although there are several kinds of equal-area projection, the term homalographic is associated esp. with Mollweide's projection (see Mollweide projection at Mollweide n. Compounds 2).
