Etymology: Late Latin, < Greek ἡμιπληγία (rare, for ἡμιπληξία ), < ἡμι- hemi- prefix + πληγή stroke, < stem of πλήσσειν to strike.
Pathology.
Paralysis of one side of the body; usually caused by a lesion in the opposite side of the brain.
