单词 | heave-offering |
释义 | heave-offeringn. In the Levitical law: An offering which was ‘heaved’ or elevated by the priest when offered; also used of other offerings, e.g. those for the construction of the tabernacle. The word is used in Tyndale's version of the Pentateuch and the Bible of 1611 to render Hebrew t'rūmāh (in 1611 also frequently rendered simply ‘offering’ or ‘oblation’), which was taken by some Rabbis to mean ‘elevation’, from rōmem to lift up.
