Designating a repeating rifle, designed in 1860 by Benjamin Tyler Henry, in which cartridges are loaded into the chamber by manipulating a lever attached to the trigger guard; as Henry rifle, Henry repeating rifle, etc.The Henry rifle is equipped with a magazine that holds sixteen cartridges and is capable of a high rate of fire that made it a popular firearm among Union forces during the American Civil War.
