释义 | Anya-Nyan. (The name of) a southern Sudanese guerrilla organization, engaged in conflict with northern Sudanese Arab troops in the period 1963–72. Also: a member of this organization. ΚΠ 1963 Uganda Argus 5 Oct. 1/3 Reports from Ethiopia and the Congo state that unrest exists on a wide front of the Southern Sudan. They say an organisation calling itself Anya-Nya—the name of a type of poison—has set up a headquarters in the bush. 1969 Reporter (Nairobi) 13 June 14/3 Today, the South is a danger zone for there are 18,000 Arab soldiers (two-thirds of the Sudan Army) ‘hunting down’ Anyanyas. 1989 Encycl.
