Etymology: < French haricot (16th cent. in Littré), in 14th cent. hericoq de mouton (Hatzfeld & Darmesteter), hericot (Littré), in sense 1; in sense 2 Hatzfeld & Darmesteter cite fevre de haricot of 1642. Origin uncertain: see Littré.
