Etymology: < hare n. + brain n. The spelling hair-brain, suggesting another origin for the compound, is later, though occasional before 1600.Previous versions of the OED give the stress as: ˈhare-brain.
1. One who has a brain like a hare's, or no more brain than a hare; a giddy or reckless person. Obsolete.
