释义

antrustionn.

Brit. /anˈtrʌstɪən/, /anˈtrʌstʃ(ə)n/, U.S. /ænˈtrəstiən/, /ænˈtrəstʃən/
Origin: Of multiple origins. Partly a borrowing from French. Partly a borrowing from Latin. Etymons: French antrustion; Latin antrustion-, antrustio.
Etymology: < (i) French antrustion (1748 in the passage translated in quot. 1750), and its etymon (ii) post-classical Latin antrustion-, antrustio (from 6th or 7th cent. in Salic Law, etc.), apparently < a first element of uncertain origin (perhaps < the Germanic base of and- prefix) + post-classical Latin trustis retinue, entourage (from 6th or 7th cent. in Salic Law, etc.; apparently < the Germanic base of trust n.) + classical Latin -iō -ion suffix1, perhaps after an unattested Old Dutch compound.
