单词 haster
释义

hastern.

Brit. /ˈheɪstə/, U.S. /ˈheɪstər/
Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: haste v., -er suffix1.
Etymology: < haste v. + -er suffix1.Compare earlier hastery n. and also Old French, Middle French hastier roasting spit (12th cent.), hasteur cook in charge of the roasting spit (see hastler n.); however, as there is no overlap in use between these and English haster n., the similarity in form is likely to be coincidental.
Originally English regional. Now historical.
A metal stand or sceen used to reflect the heat of a fire back on to a roasting joint of meat; = hastener n. 2.
