Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: hash v., hash n.1; -ed suffix1, -ed suffix2.
Etymology: Partly (in sense 1) < hash v. + -ed suffix1, and partly (in sense 2) < hash n.1 (compare hash n.1 4) + -ed suffix2. With sense 2 compare later hash v. 4 and hashing n.2, and hash code n.
1. That has been hashed (in various senses of the verb); esp. (of meat or other food) chopped, shredded, or sliced into small pieces for cooking or eating; made into a hash.
