† half-margin n. (and adv.) Obsolete a format for written material in which the page is divided into two vertical columns, one of which is typically used for headings or notes identifying matter in the other; (also) either of these columns, usually the main one; also (and earliest) as adv. (e.g. they are written half-margin).
