单词 grody
释义

grodyadj.

/ˈɡrəʊdi/
Forms: Also groady, groddy /ˈɡrɒdɪ/, †groaty /ˈɡrəʊtɪ/.
Etymology: In early use groaty , representing phonetic respelling of grot- (in grotesque adj.) + -y suffix1. The shift of t to d is accounted for by the phonetic equivalence of intervocalic t and d in U.S. English. Compare grotty adj.
U.S. slang.
Disgusting, revolting, ‘gross’; dirty, unhygienic, squalid; unattractive, slovenly, sloppy. Frequently in grody to the max, unspeakably awful, ‘the pits’.
