/ˈɡrɛːfənbɛːɡ/ Gräfenberg ring n. now Historical an intrauterine contraceptive device consisting of a flexible ring of silver wire, described by Gräfenberg in 1929 (in K. Bendix Geburtenregelung: Vorträge u. Verhandlungen des Ärztekurses vom 28-30 Dezember 1928, 50). Gräfenberg spot n. a sensitive area of the anterior wall of the vagina believed by some to be highly erogenous and capable of ejaculation (first described by Gräfenberg & Dickinson 1944, in Western Jrnl. Surg. 52 338); abbreviated G-spot.

1964 Guardian 8 Dec. 8/4 Five years ago experiments with stainless steel and plastic variants on the Gräfenberg ring were reported in medical journals.
1981 F. Addiego et al. in Jrnl. Sex Res. 17 15 The subject identified an erotically sensitive spot, palpable through the anterior wall of her vagina. We subsequently named this area the ‘Grafenberg spot’ in recognition of the person who wrote of its existence and relationship to female ejaculation.
