单词 guidon
释义

guidonn.

/ˈɡʌɪdən/
Forms: 1500s guyd home, guyd(e)home, 1600s guid(e)home, (1500s guydion, guidone, guydone, 1600s guidhim), 1500s–1600s guydon, 1500s– guidon.
Etymology: < French guidon, < Italian guidone , perhaps connected with guida guide n. (Compare geton n.1) Some of the 16th cent. forms are due to popular etymology, the word being interpreted as if it were French *guide-homme guider of men (compare the 18th cent. French guid'âne ‘guide-ass’, handbook for the ignorant).
