Origin: Perhaps a variant or alteration of another lexical item. Perhaps formed within English, by blending. Perhaps an imitative or expressive formation. Etymons: goo n., gloop n.
Etymology: Perhaps an alteration of either goo n. or gloop n. (compare gloop n. 2), or perhaps a blend of these two words, or perhaps independently of expressive origin. Compare later glop n.
North American colloquial.
1. A viscous, semi-liquid substance or mixture, (now) often of an unpleasant or disgusting nature. Cf. goo n., glop n.Quot. 1930 represents a verse purportedly sung by American soldiers during the years (1917–18) that the United States fought in the First World War.
