Any of various organizations of girls or women, formed for the purpose of mutual support, spiritual instruction, or service to the community; (now chiefly) spec. a Christian organization of this type, first established in Dublin, Ireland in 1893.The modern organization is an amalgamation of three similar groups which came together in 1965: the Girls' Brigade (Ireland, 1893), the Girls' Guildry (Scotland, 1900), and the Girls' Life Brigade (England, 1902).
