Origin: A borrowing from German. Etymon: German Globulose.
Etymology: < German Globulose (W. E. Kühne & R. H. Chittenden 1886, in Zeitschr. f. Biol. 22 409) < Globulin (see globulin n.) + -ose -ose suffix2. Compare slightly earlier albumose n. and slightly later proteose n.
Biochemistry. Now historical.
Any of a class of proteins (the proteoses) formed by the decomposition of a globulin by the action of pepsin.
