单词 giblet
释义

gibletn.

/ˈdʒɪblɪt/
Forms: Middle English gibelet(te, (Middle English gyblot, Middle English gebyllott, giblott, Middle English–1500s jeblet, 1600s giblit, gublett, 1800s jiblet), Middle English–1600s gyb(e)let(t, 1500s– giblet.
Etymology: < Old French gibelet, apparently a stew or ragout of game; compare Walloon giblè d'awe goose-giblets (Littré), modern French gibelotte rabbit-stew. The order of senses below is that of their appearance in English, and may possibly coincide with the order of development; the culinary sense is, however, the only one recorded in French, and Hatzfeld & Darmesteter regard the word as cognate with gibier game.
