1893 13th Ann. Rep. U.S. Geol. Surv. ii. 220 It often happens that the result of the combination of many anticlines and synclines is to form a complex structure, which, regarded as a whole, is either synclinal or anticlinal. The former is called a synclinorium, the latter an anticlinorium.
