Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; modelled on a German lexical item. Etymons: geo- comb. form, dynamics n.
Etymology: < geo- comb. form + dynamics n., after German Geodynamik ( J. F. Lorenz Elemente der Math. (1798) II. ii. i. 109). Compare geodynamic adj.
With singular agreement. The branch of science concerned with the forces acting within the earth. Also: (with plural agreement) the processes and phenomena caused by such forces.
