Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin Armenicus.
Etymology: < classical Latin Armenicus of or relating to Armenia or the Armenians (2nd cent. a.d.) < the name of Armenia (see Armenian n.) + -icus -ic suffix. Compare Hellenistic Greek Ἀρμενικός . Compare Armeniac adj. and later Armenian n.In bole Armenic after post-classical Latin bolus armenicus (see Armeniac adj.); compare Old French bolarmenicum , bol armenike , bolarmenique (13th cent.), Middle French, French bol armenic (14th cent.). In stone Armenic after post-classical Latin lapis armenicus (see Armenian stone n. at Armenian n. and adj. Compounds).
