单词 geta
释义

getan.

Brit. /ˈɡɛtə/, /ˈɡeɪtə/, U.S. /ˈɡɛˌtɑ/, /ˈɡɛdə/
Inflections: Plural unchanged, (rare) getas.
Origin: A borrowing from Japanese. Etymon: Japanese geta.
Etymology: < Japanese geta (1603 as gueta in Vocabulario da Lingoa de Iapam), perhaps < -geta, combining form of keta beam (in hashigeta bridge, on account of the similarity of the twin supports of the shoes to a traditional Japanese bridge). Now conventionally written in kanji as if < ge- under ( < Middle Chinese) + -da footwear (perhaps < Middle Chinese), although this reflects a folk etymology.
A Japanese shoe, usually wooden, with a thong to pass between the first (big) toe and the second toe. Chiefly in plural.
