A green mineral consisting of hydrous silicates of nickel and magnesium, found in encrustations and amorphous masses.A mixture of other minerals, not now regarded as a distinct mineral species.

1990 G. T. Railton & W. A. Watters Minerals N. Z. 36/2 Genthite, which is closely related to or identical with garnierite, was recorded early from N Auckland and near Tapu, Coromandel Peninsula.
