1939 C. H. Waddington Introd. Mod. Genetics xvi. 373 Eyster suggested that this might be due to the sorting out of sub-units (genomeres) of which the gene was supposed to consist.

1966 E. A. Carlson Gene xxvi. 247 Demerec's enthusiasm for the study of the gene was not discouraged to the point of withdrawal when he was unable to find support for his genomere hypothesis in Delphinium.
