Etymology: < the name of Georgia, one of the Southern states of the United States (see Georgian n.2 and adj.2).
1. Georgia pine n. chiefly U.S. the longleaf pine, Pinus palustris, a tall pine of the south-eastern United States. Also: the fine-grained, durable timber of this tree, which has been used in the United States for shipbuilding, flooring, and furniture. Also called southern pine.
