Any plant of the genus Satureja (family Lamiaceae ( Labiatae)), comprising aromatic herbs and low shrubs from the Mediterranean and south-west Asia; esp. either of two plants used as culinary herbs, (more fully summer savory, garden savory) the annual S. hortensis, and (more fully winter savory, mountain savory) the perennial S. montana, both native to southern Europe.
