The action of gab v.2; prattling; an instance of this. Also (and in earliest use, in plural): foolish or idle talk, nonsense.Apparently not evidenced between Middle English and the 18th century; quot. 1582 comes from a ‘Catalogue, of the most hardest olde English words’.
