A style of hip-hop combining the lyrical themes of gangsta rap with music influenced by P-funk, originating in Los Angeles in the 1990s and typically characterized by a mid-tempo, bass-driven rhythm and high-pitched melodies that employ portamento to achieve a mellow, lilting effect.
