transitive. To make (something) into or like a game; spec. to apply elements of game playing, such as point scoring, competition with others, etc., to (an activity), typically to encourage engagement with a product or service. Cf. gamification n.

2003 B. King & J. Borland Dungeons & Dreamers 53 Trubshaw began working on..the ‘Multi-User Dungeon’... He called it a game, but it had really been more of a programming exercise... In 1980, Bartle took it over and ‘gamified’ it.
