Etymology: < French fulminique (in acide fulminique : J. Liebig & J. L. Gay-Lussac 1824, in Ann. de chim. et de physique 25 287; < fulmin- (in fulminate fulminate n., fulminer fulmine v.) + -ique -ic suffix), with remodelling of the suffix after -ic suffix. Compare German Fulminsäure (1833 or earlier; after French).
