Etymology: < full adj. + bottomed adj. Compare slightly earlier full-bottom adj., and (with use in sense 1a) slightly later full-bottom n.

a. Of a wig: having a full or large lower portion. In later use applied almost exclusively to wigs which are long at the back and have pieces extending below the face on either side, as worn by some judges.
