A symptom of various (chiefly fungal) plant diseases, esp. affecting cotton and tobacco, in which the leaves become discoloured and in some cases distorted. Also: a plant disease characterized by this symptom. Cf. French v. 5. ΚΠ 1856 De Bow's Rev. Dec. 635 In certain portions of the plantation..plants grow with white or variegated leaves.
