Origin: Of uncertain origin.
Etymology: Origin uncertain; apparently related to afound v., although the ending is difficult to account for. Compare enfundying n. N.E.D. (1898) gives the pronunciation as (fɓ·ni) /ˈfʌni/.
Chiefly Scottish. Obsolete.
intransitive. To become stiff or make numb with cold.
