Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin ad nauseam.
Etymology: < classical Latin ad nauseam to a sickening extent (in Petronius in ad summam nauseam so as to excite the greatest disgust) < ad (see ad- prefix) + nauseam , accusative of nausea nausea n.
To a sickening or nauseating extent; to a tiresomely excessive degree. Cf. usque ad nauseam adv.In quot. 1565 in literal use.
