Origin: From a proper name. Etymon: proper name Fowler.
Etymology: < the name of Henry Watson Fowler (1858–1933), British lexicographer and grammarian.
H. W. Fowler's A Dictionary of Modern English Usage, first published in 1926; an edition or abridgement of this work, especially taken as the standard guide to correct English grammar and usage. Also in the genitive, used absol., as Fowler's.
