单词 angiotensin
释义

angiotensinn.

Brit. /ˌan(d)ʒɪə(ʊ)ˈtɛnsɪn/, U.S. /ˌændʒioʊˈtɛnsᵻn/, /ˌændʒiəˈtɛnsᵻn/
Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: angio- comb. form, hypertensin n.
Etymology: < angio- comb. form + -tensin (in hypertensin n.).
Biochemistry and Physiology.
1. An octapeptide (peptide of eight amino acids) that causes blood vessels to constrict and stimulates the production of aldosterone, thus increasing blood pressure. More fully angiotensin II.Earlier names for this peptide were hypertensin and angiotonin.
