Etymology: < post-classical Latin ad crumenam to the purse (1521 or earlier) < classical Latin ad to (see ad- prefix) + crumēnam , accusative of crumēna purse (see crumen n.). Compare ad hominem adv., ad rem adv.

With respect to or by means of monetary considerations; with (excessive) attention to financial interest. Also as adj.: relating to money, financial. Cf. crumenically adv.
