Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: angel n., hair n.
Etymology: In α. forms < the genitive or genitive plural of angel n. + hair n.; in β. forms < angel n. + hair n.In sense 1 after Spanish cabello de ángel (17th cent. in this sense). In sense 3 after Italian capelli d’angelo (although this is first attested slightly later in this sense: 1904 or earlier).
