Etymology: Originally < Anglo-Norman fole haste (13th cent.) < fole , feminine of fol fool adj. + haste haste n. In later use partly re-formed < fool adj. + haste n. Compare foolhasty adj.
Obsolete.
Foolish or reckless haste; rashness. Often in proverbial phrases indicating that progress is best made by not rushing or acting rashly, as in fool-haste is no speed.
