Origin: Either (i) formed within English, by derivation. Or (ii) a borrowing from Swedish, combined with an English element. Etymons: anemochore n., -ous suffix; Swedish anemochor , -ous suffix.
Etymology: Either < anemochore n. + -ous suffix, or < Swedish anemochor, adjective (see anemochore n.) + -ous suffix. Compare zoochorous adj. and the German adjective cited at that entry.
Of a plant or other organism: having seeds, other propagules, or offspring that are dispersed by wind. Also: designating this mode of dispersal.
