Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; modelled on a German lexical item. Etymons: anthropo- comb. form, -nomy comb. form.
Etymology: < anthropo- comb. form + -nomy comb. form, after German Anthroponomie (in Kant's philosophy) a particular moral system (1786 in the passage translated in quot. 1799 at sense 1), the study of human nature ( W. Liebsch Grundriss der Anthropologie II. (1808), volume title; compare quot. 1811 at sense 2). Compare earlier anthroponomical adj.
